Do you ever get this craving for pasta and absolutely nothing else will fix that itch? Or when you want it but not the usual with a simple tomato basil sauce or the comforting pasta with beans or potato. Do you want something to literally send sparks in your mouth leaving your stomach sated but your mouth wanting more? That dear reader is when you need to read this post for these simple spicy pasta recipes sure to score points with other chili lovers.
Pasta has got to be one of the most versatile dishes out there, so dare to make something different if you haven’t tried these recipes before. I know they say we should skip the pasta to cut some pounds. But do we really have to? While you contemplate that, this post will share with you 4 spicy, some think sexy, or spunky pasta recipes that’ll make you sing!
First: A Quick Note on Pasta Sauces
All the pasta sauces featured here are homemade. My hope is that after you see how easy it is to make your own pasta sauces, you won’t waste another penny on store-bought versions.
You can also make the puttanesca, arrabbiata, and tuna sauce in advance then refrigerate to use the next day or freeze for later.
Spaghetti alla Puttanesca
The one Italian recipe you must absolutely know how to make! Other than that mild heat at the pit of your stomach, it will send blood to our cheeks and a big smile across your face. Puttanesca is what you make to impress. Made with black olives, capers, anchovies, fresh red birds eye chili- sautéed in a tomato sauce. I will also share how to increase/decrease the spiciness. As well as how to have a lumpy or thick and finely ground sauce.

Fusilli with Tuna and Chili
Here’s where all that canned tuna in your pantry comes into play. I believe this is a recipe that might come as a surprise to those who haven’t had it before. Why? Because who pairs tuna and chili with pasta???? Make it to find out what the fuss is about. It’s an easy recipe made with finely diced and sautéed fresh red birds eye chili, reduced with a simple tomato sauce and canned tuna. Finished with a few sprinkles of chopped parsley.
You will love this because you can give your insides a break from Parmesan and all other cheese we love to sprinkle onto the pasta.

Penne with a Spicy Tomato and Ricotta Sauce
I don’t know how but this recipe just sneaked into my all-time favorite pasta recipes and even I was surprised. Why? Because I was never a fan of ricotta. However, somehow the fried fresh red birds eye chili and tomato sauce blend in so shockingly well with the bland ricotta and salty Pecorino Romano to result in a dish absolutely worth your while. So if you have a friend, lover, or family with a special place for ricotta on their palate? Then this is what you make for them.
Eh ehm. Please don’t skip out on buying a good block of ciabatta bread to wipe off the leftover sauce, because that would just be a deplorable waste!

Spicy Spaghetti with Pecorino
A simple spicy sauce doesn’t get easier than this. The sauce is made with sautéed finely diced fresh red bird’s eye chili and a tomato sauce. Which is then finished by balancing all that spice with some salty Pecorino Romano. I know, I know… I also still need to wrap my head around how salt and heat balance each other out but I promise that this is such a delicious and simple recipe you might want to make again and again.
