Hello and welcome to My Food Memoirs!

I am Angela, the recipe developer, home cook, and writer behind this blog. I create reliable comfort food recipes, beginner-friendly cooking and baking guides, and practical cooking tutorials to help everyday home cooks succeed in preparing family comfort foods with confidence.

When I am not developing recipes in my kitchen, I’m a mom working full-time as a Content Account Manager, balancing work and family life, while thinking of the same question that most of us ask every day: “What’s for dinner?”

I hope that My Food Memoirs will help conjure some of the beautiful, almost forgotten memories you have and nudge you into the kitchen to express your feelings through cooking and baking.

Why You Can Trust My Recipes

Every recipe on My Food Memoirs has been prepared, tested, and photographed in my kitchen before publishing. They are recipes I cook for my family using accessible ingredients, practical techniques, and straightforward instructions.

I share these recipes because it brings me joy to do so. I believe good food should be approachable and not complicated, whether it’s your first time trying a recipe or returning to an old favourite. My goal is always to create dependable recipes that you can return to again and again and help home cooks gain confidence while creating lasting memories in the kitchen and on their palates.

“I don’t aim to impress you with complicated recipes. My goal is to share with you dependable recipes that you’ll happily cook on an ordinary Tuesday and want to make it again”. Angela

Snippets About Me

Where am I and what do I? I live in sunny Malta where I absolutely recommend you visit. And when I am not obsessing about what to cook and eat, reading or doing crafts with my daughters, I work full-time as a Content Account Manager in iGaming. Years of working in digital content have taught me the importance of creating clear, accurate, and genuinely helpful information- something I bring to every recipe I publish.

Was I always ‘in love’ with cooking? No, I mostly had my head in the clouds, preoccupied with travel and novels. I used to be your typical romantic… No, wait, I think that part of me still lives

Where am I from and where have I been? I am from Kenya and moved to Europe decades ago! I’ve had the opportunity to travel quite a lot and have lived in Italy, Germany, Manchester, UK (the longest), and currently in Malta. I believe country-hopping, if I can call it that, introduced me to a whole new world related to food. And now all I want to do is sample this and that or watch people cook- I could do this all day!!!

Foods that feel like home: I can never get enough of my mom’s chapati with beef stew, my sister’s pilau and a good homemade pizza! Comfort food means something different for everyone, but these dishes conjure a sense of home and belonging.

What do you eat when watching movies? Frosties without milk are a fantastic substitute for popcorn! Though it can get a little loud between each crunching mouthful

The ‘meal’ that changed everything: Someone dear to me was hungry after one too many. And there was nothing in the fridge but a loaf of white bread on the kitchen counter. So I made them fried bread, well … there is more to the story, but that’s how it started.

What inspired me to love preparing food was the look in their eyes as they ate. It was something so simple, and yet there we were so happy in that moment. Since then, I have wanted to spread that feeling and see that look as much as I can.

Do I get tired of cooking? Oh yes, which is why there are quite a few quick recipes. For those moments when you know you must make something but don’t want to toil in the kitchen for hours on end.

And when I am not cooking, what am I doing? Goofing around with my daughters, or binge-watching Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown or Maeve O’Meara’s Food Safari. Let’s not forget the pile high of Paulo Coelho’s collection that I will get to at some point when I’m not thinking of what to make for dinner.

Whether you are here to master a classic Italian recipe, bake your first loaf of bread, or simply find inspiration for tonight’s dinner, I am so glad you found your way here.

I hope My Food Memoirs becomes a place you return to whenever you need a dependable recipe, a little encouragement, or a reminder that some of life’s best memories begin in the kitchen.

Thank you for stopping by, and happy cooking!

Angela
